Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Confidential Intermediary?

As a Confidential Intermediary, I am permitted by the court to view confidential adoption records to determine if the birth parent granted permission for contact. This is the first step to a reunion.

How long does a typical search take?

This will depend in part on how much identifying information is available to us in adoption records. Every search is unique, and we'll provide you with realistic timeframes during your consultation.

What information is needed to get started?

The adoptee's date and place of birth along with the state where the adoption was finalized.

Do you work internationally?

No. I am a Confidential Intermediary for the state of Arizona only. I can extend my search to other states if the original adoption took place in Arizona.

What if the person does not want to be found?

If the birth parent does not want to be found or has not authorized contact, I will only be able to give you that information as this is what is allowed by the court.

What is the success rate?

Most reunion searches are successful eventually! While every case is different, we are committed to pursuing every available avenue to help you find the answers you're seeking.

What are your fees?

We strive to keep costs as accessible as possible while maintaining the highest quality of service. Our fees are set by the court according to the following schedule:

  • Initial File Setup: $100.00 (non-refundable)
  • Investigation & Research: $100.00 per hour
  • Travel Time: $50.00 per hour
  • Direct Costs & Expenses: Billed at rates incurred

Once your contract is signed and accepted, we ask for a $1,500 retainer. You will receive a detailed monthly accounting of all fees and expenses, ensuring complete transparency throughout your search.
